Livin' the Dash

Personal note:

On a gravestone, you’ll always see two dates —
a beginning and an end.

But in between… there’s a dash.

And that small line represents an entire life.

Every choice. Every moment. Every story.

“Livin’ the Dash” is a reminder that it’s not just about how life starts or ends…
but about what you do with everything in between.

So the question is simple:
what are you doing with your dash?

Written by Fawn Jacobs & William Creech

I stood by the grave of a loved one

It marked the year of birth, the year of death

A simple dash between them

Marked the life that she lived

And I ask myself, how do I live the dash

And  I'm makin' my life count for eternity

Sowin' and reapin', leavin' a legacy

Makin' a mark for Jesus, lovin' my family

Livin' the dash that counts for eternity

She just loved to sing about Jesus

Taught Sunday School and lived the Golden Rule

She knew what mattered most was

The choice each one would make

And I ask myself, how do I live the dash

And  I'm makin' my life count for eternity

Sowin' and reapin', leavin' a legacy

Makin' a mark for Jesus, lovin' my family

Livin' the dash that counts for eternity

When I close my eyes in death

I wanna leave a legacy

Livin' the dash for Jesus

Secures my destiny
